Driving Innovation: ETG’s Role in the Groundbreaking eShadow Project

We’re thrilled to share more about our role in the innovative eShadow project, a collaboration that is redefining electric commercial vehicle chassis design. This project, led by Ford, is focused on developing lightweight, multi-material rolling chassis ladder frames that improve efficiency and support zero-emission goals.

As part of this transformative initiative, our own Project Manager Mike Hawrylak shared some key insights into the advanced manufacturing and assembly processes that we’ve been proud to contribute. Here’s what he had to say:

“The computer-aided design process and advanced manufacturing processes supported the ability to optimise the assembly process. When it comes to the stiffness of these parts, unlike metallic parts, you can’t manipulate them during assembly. But we’re finding that the quality and repeatability of the parts is really good. For the molding done at WMG, it’s clear they have excellent control over their processes, delivering consistent results.”

Mike also highlighted how this precision impacts the assembly process:

“It’s quite nice to be able to build these ladder frames, which assemble really easily because the parts are too tolerance.”

The eShadow project has also opened doors for us to expand our horizons as a company. Mike noted:

“The APC funding allows us to be involved in these projects. It gives us the opportunity to work with new partners, form new relationships, and be exposed to different technologies. That’s crucial if we want to move forward as a company.”

At Expert Technologies Group (ETG), we’ve always believed in pushing boundaries and embracing innovation. Through the eShadow project, we’ve been able to collaborate with incredible partners like Ford, the University of Warwick, and others to develop cutting-edge solutions for the future of mobility. The insights we’ve gained and the technologies we’ve worked with are helping shape not just this project, but the future of advanced manufacturing.

We’re proud to be part of this exciting journey and look forward to sharing more updates as we continue to innovate and grow alongside our partners.

Here’s to driving the future of sustainable transportation together!
