National Apprenticeship Week 2023 – Lauren Emmerson

Meet Lauren Emmerson, one of our amazing apprentices. In a conversation with her she shared her experience with us as an ETG apprentice. Here is what she said:

Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in engineering?

A: I was interested in engineering at a young age. I grew up listening to my father and grandfather talking about their days at work and I would even visit them at work. I decided to take engineering for my GCSE’s to develop my understanding of the trade. I grew to really enjoy it as it is a very hands-on job and you find you learn something new everyday.

Q: What areas of engineering are you particularly interested in and why?

A: I am particularly interested in Machining as we get to make parts that are assembled onto machinery that get taken to different parts of the world and it is great to know that something that I have created, even if it is small, is somewhere contributing to the technology of the 21st Century.

Q: What do you believe sets ETG apart from others in the industry?

A: ETG do not just make one thing. There is a wide range of things that they have made such as the poppy machines, mask machines and the widget machines. It makes things more interesting when you come into work and make parts for a job that is changing the way things are made and enhancing technology.
